HOW DID WE GET HERE?
Let’s go down memory lane for a few minutes and soon you’ll see how this all connects.
IN 2011 I MADE THIS CONCEPT GRAPHIC FOR A BOOK I WANTED TO MAKE
I knew I wanted it make an underdog meets anti-bullying story and something that kids would get a boost from, but also something that would resonate with adults as engaging, funny, and fun. I pictured bed time stories being a win for all ages.
I worked on this concept on and off for years and noticed that the my love for Marvel Comics was going to show up so it was best to let it happen, not try to write a traditional children’s book.
IN 2017 A GRAPHIC NOVEL WAS PUBLISHED DOCUMENTING THE ADVENTURES OF YOUNG MARVIN STENCH
Marvin Stench was all 100% written, illustrated, and self published in house as an independent artist from 2011-2017 before hitting bookshelves in the Midwest & online retailers.
MY LOCAL NEIGHBORHOOD EMBRACED IT
Anyone I asked if they would give my book a read and consider putting it in their shop said yes.
THE LEGEND OF MARVIN STENCH BEGAN TO GROW
Pictures started to roll in from parents identifying that the book was part of their nightly routine and fun for the entire home.
I FELT ACCOMPLISHED
My mission to create a small positive change in the bedtime routine for families was a winner, and seeing the photos roll through was an amazing experience. They still roll through and they always hit me the same way.
MINI SPOILER: The book ends with a cliff hanger and I just can’t seem to let the rest of the story live in my head. The kids deserve to know what happened next and that’s the least I can do in the form of an NFT project now that I have additional tools at my disposal to execute my vision in the Web3 space. There is a 3 year planned mapped to share this and I can’t wait to roll this out over time.
